Grilled Cheese with Sheep Milk Cheese
Share
A grilled cheese is already one of the best comfort foods out there, but when you make it with Bad Axe Jalapeño sheep milk cheese, it takes on a whole new level of flavor. This cheese melts beautifully while adding just the right amount of heat. Topping the sandwich with lightly sautéed sweet peppers adds color, sweetness, and a little extra texture that balances the spice perfectly.
This is the kind of sandwich that feels both simple and a little special at the same time.
Ingredients
-
2 slices hearty bread (sourdough or country loaf works great)
-
2–3 slices Bad Axe Jalapeño sheep milk cheese
-
1 tablespoon butter
-
½ cup small sweet peppers, sliced into rings
-
1 teaspoon olive oil
-
Pinch of salt and black pepper
Instructions
-
Prepare the peppers. Heat olive oil in a small pan over medium heat. Add sliced sweet peppers and cook for 3–4 minutes until slightly softened. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
-
Assemble the sandwich. Layer Bad Axe Jalapeño cheese between the two slices of bread.
-
Butter the bread. Spread butter on the outside of each slice.
-
Grill the sandwich. Cook in a skillet over medium heat for about 3–4 minutes per side until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
-
Top with peppers. Remove from the pan and spoon the warm sautéed peppers over the grilled cheese before serving.
Serving Ideas
-
Serve with tomato soup for a classic comfort meal.
-
Add sliced avocado or crispy bacon for extra richness.
-
Pair with a crunchy pickle or simple salad.
Farm Kitchen Tip
Sheep milk cheeses melt smoothly and add a rich, creamy flavor to grilled sandwiches. The jalapeño in Bad Axe brings just enough kick, while the sweet peppers mellow the heat and add a fresh pop of color.
